Just a short update…after cleaning the gameboy, it does not seem to work properly anymore - with some cartridges it works just fine while others won’t load at all. Others will only work if you turn down the brightness knob.
Anyway, i have already ordered another one off an auction site.
Since i have not got the lsdj cart yet i’ll get back on here some time soon….

NINTENDO GBA x LSDJ

well it’s been a loooong time since my last post on here. if you’re into gaming….you probably know early november was release date of TES - Skyrim (explains a lot) and of course my minecraft addiction got worse every day - ya’know, blocks are bad… mkay!

so, basically one nerdy habit kept me from doing another uber-nerdy habit. and today we’re going to merge them together….oldschool style!

two days ago I got my hands on a free gameboy. fully working, good condition

and today I ordered a LSDJ cartridge from here:

http://www.djtransformer.com/shop/product.php?id_product=11

if you don’t know LSDJ, get to know it:

furthermore I need a tri-wing screwdriver to open up the gameboy and clean it. as you can see there is some dust behind the screen i’d like to get rid of…

….

I’ll get back when I have all the stuff…

Square Twisted Distortion - “Slut Slanter”

Got some new d.i.y. gear last weekend… a pretty pretty distortion box, a simple yet wonderful sounding synth called “Acid Fist” and a third one… can’t remember what it does but it looked very promising…

I already managed to build the distortion box including a minor tweak - a “Bypass-Switch”…. but have a look for yourself…

Parts List:

  • PCB
  • 2x Audio IN/OUT
  • 2x Switch ON/ON
  • 3x Resistors (10k / 100k / 300r)
  • 1x Power Supply (9V)
  • 3x LED (Orange / Red / Green)
  • 3x Potentiometer (1k / 1k /10K)
  • 1x IC (LM386)
  • 3x ELKO (10uF / 100uF / 100uF)
  • 1x Condenser (0.1uF)

^finished testversion - final version has a 9V input instead of the battery clip, mounted the LEDs onto the case for more disco feeling - and most important - a “Bypass-Switch” which is kinda self-explanatory.

A shitshot on the power supply line (e.g. simply by battery wiggling) often reveals very bizarre crash sounds. While some are simply loud noises like a hair dryer or pneumatic hammer, there is one astonishing piece of glitch music hidden in the CPU.
It sounds like Buddhist meditation music from a Tibetan or Zen monastery, consisting of a set of gongs and drums followed by a humming tone in the background.
It is even quite easy to access by playing notes during shitshot. Unfortunately the resulting crash usually disables all keys and manual controls, thus a reset button should be added. (A simple opener button switch in the supply voltage line may fulfil both needs.)

Added Features:

  • 9V battery powered
  • Noize ON/ OFF Switch
  • Noize Trigger-Button
  • Noize Volume Control
  • ShitShot-Function Switch
  • ShitShot Calibrating Knob

Fact No.134:

Added Features:

  • Speaker on/ off switch
  • LED indicator for speaker status
  • 2x 6.35mm Mono Line-Outputs
  • Volume Control for Line-Output
  • “Slow Down to Noize” Control Knob

Sample Pack Part 1:

  • 2-channel 44.1kHz 32-bit WAV Files

  • Kick, Snare, HiHat, Cymb oneshot samples
  • Bird, Duck, Bull, Dog oneshot samples
  • 20x robotic noizes (some sound like WALL-E speaking…)
  • one longer saw/square wave madness

The Hulaauaauaa Device VS Skipper

That was the day it all started…
